Q: Can I use this program if I’m an absolute beginner?
A: Yes! This program was designed with beginners in mind; every movement is explained in detail, along with modifications so you can always find a way to move that suits your unique body and your unique needs.
This program provides a gentle on-ramp for beginners to increase their body-awareness and movement-confidence so that you can work more independently on a timeline that makes sense for you!
Q: Is this program good for folks who already workout? Can it be added to an existing program I’m using for strength training or fitness?
A: Absolutely! MVMNTCHVRCH is a great recovery and mobility option for experienced trainees to use on off-days or as a warm-up / cool-down.
Q: What if I can’t get down onto the floor / what if I have “bad” knees or a “bad” back?
A: MVMNTCHVRCH comes complete with several modifications for each movement; whether it’s an option for folks who aren’t ready yet to get on the floor, folks with cranky knees, back, wrists, etc, or folks who need some assistance with balance.
Q: I’m not into sweating a lot, or feeling like I’m gonna barf; is this right for me?
A: This program is designed as a way for you to explore movement at your own pace, not as a way to “burn calories” or mindlessly tire yourself out.
Of course, when you’re moving intentionally and in a focused manner you may sweat (that’s not something I can predict, since everyone’s body is different!), however, this program prioritizes finding ways to move that you enjoy over “feeling the burn.”
Q: Is this good for someone with a lot of aches and pains?
A: Your body requires regular movement to function well and feel good. Almost everyone who engages in regular movement experiences a reduction of aches and pains, as well as an increase in movement capacity and freedom.
MVMNTCHVRCH is designed to help you adopt movement as a ritual, something that you engage with regularly so that you can receive these benefits.
Q: I want to get moving and enjoy myself at the same time — is this program fun?
A: Well, I think so ;P
Enjoyment is a very important part of creating sustainable habits. MVMNTCHVRCH was designed with a focus on movement exploration so that you can discover what you enjoy about movement. It was also designed to help you claim your own authority over how you move your body so you are empowered to move in the ways that you enjoy and that work for you!
Q: What if I’m an older person, is this okay for me to try?
A: Yes! No matter our age, we can always learn and grow, in both our mental and physical abilities!
Every movement in this program comes with several modifications so that you can find ways to move that suit your body and needs. Additionally, the movements you’ll learn will serve your body well by helping you to maintain (or retrain) your ability to access basic human movement patterns necessary for staying physically independent as you age.
Q: I’d like to learn how to strength train, but every time I’ve tried to get started, I felt overwhelmed — is this a good place to start?
A: MVMNTCHVRCH was designed to be the easiest possible entry point to developing a movement practice or introducing strength training to you life.
This program starts with a reasonable goal: 15 minutes of movement a day, six days a week while also providing you with the resources you need to form a healthy habit or regularly moving your body. Additionally, you’ll find that the program is highly flexible and adaptable, so that you can modify this starting point to fit the time and energy you have available to you. This type of flexibility, combined with easy-to-use tools for habit development, is a great way to ensure you succeed on your journey to strength!
Q: Will this program help me change the shape of my body, lose weight, or “tone” my muscles?
A: The goals of MVMNTCHVRCH are to help you experience fewer aches and pains and more freedom and capacity in your body. Along the way, you’ll learn the basics of movement and have the opportunity to become better friends with your body.
Changing the shape of your body is not a goal of this program because reaching the goals stated above will occur independent of how you look.
Because of the cascade of poor self-confidence, disempowerment, negative self-concept, and poor health outcomes that can result from the use of language that focuses on appearance, in particular in regards to size, I do not promote or use this language in my programs.
In short, moving more and getting stronger will positively change your life; because changing how you look is unrelated and unnecessary to creating this positive change it is not a focus of this program.

• This program is perfect if you already know that you need to move your body (to feel good, to maintain your health, to reduce daily aches and pains) but aren’t interested in traditional forms of exercise.

• MVMNTCHVRCH is also great for anyone with prior experience training who is looking for a recovery or mobility program or anyone interested in working out in the future who wants to prepare their body, learn basic movement patterns, and develop good discipline.
Who is it not for?
• MVMNTCHVRCH is not a workout program — it’s a movement solution; if you only want to train with a “no pain, no gain” mentality this program will not be appropriate for you because it’s focus is on movement quality and developing a healthy relationship with your body.
• MVMTNCHVRCH is not a weight loss program, is not intended to change your appearance, and does not support diet culture. You are, of course, free to do anything you want with your body, just know that this program is centered around valuing our bodies as they are and practicing movement as a loving aspect of self-care.
• MVMNTCHVRCH only works if you use it! The program provides resources to help you create a sustainable healthy habit of movement, but again, these tools only work if you are willing to use them. If you are looking for a “magic bullet” or “quick fix,” this program is not for you.
