how to use this:
I created MVMTNCHVRCH because I believe that everyone deserves to have their basic human needs met.
The specific basic human need which I can most effectively and directly address is movement.
Beyond that, I believe that self-determination is a basic human need, and I know that I can encourage the development of this through creating programs which teach the user to become more independent as both a mover and a thinker.
To this end, I have included If This, Then That; a resource which breaks down what particular areas of your body are affected by each movement in this program, so that you can then select a series of movements in order to create a desired effect.
The six daily movement rituals of MVMNTCHVRCH are ways to experience fewer aches and pains and more freedom and capacity in your body. And you could keep using them for the rest of your life as a tool for self-maintenance and self-care.
But boredom can be a powerful motivator!
Honestly, I consider boredom to be an untapped resource for human growth. If and when you grow bored of the six daily movement rituals, start exploring If This, Then That. This can be your launch pad for developing even more ownership of your movement practice.
What you’ll learn through exploring movement independently is invaluable and a wonderful supplement to what you will have learned with my guidance through following the six daily movement rituals.
So how do you use If This, Then That?
You can use it to create your own daily movement ritual of whatever length you’d like. Or, use it to address a specific area of your body that needs a bit more care and attention. (But remember: this program is not a substitute for a qualified doctor or physical therapist, so if you are in pain or have an issue that doesn’t resolve within a few weeks, pay a visit to a professional!)
Start by either selecting one movement for each area of the body and arranging them in a way that makes sense to you. Or head to the section on one particular area of the body and pay attention to how it feels to try several or all of the movements together. You can also head to the last four sections for movements that address a particular purpose. Or experiment with creating your own movement ritual for another purpose all together.
